We keep score the plainest way there is: a $20 win bet on three horses in each race. A race won by a short price counts as a miss — the payoff, not the result, is what we measure. It is also the least flattering way to keep score, to us.
Gross winnings are not a record. A record has two sides. We publish what you might have wagered and the return, fully, weekend by weekend, whatever it says.
The win bet is how we measure for the record. It proves the races are real using the simplest wager there is.
